Around the World in 80 Minutes

Sunday 19 August 2018, 5pm
Presented by the Australian Army Big Band, Kapooka

Proudly sponsored by

The Australian Army Band Kapooka will take the audience on a musical journey around the world. The programme commences with music from Australia and continues with musical selections from Europe, some traditional big band arrangements from the United States, together with Latin flavours from South America.

The Australian Army Band Kapooka was established in 1952 to support recruit training and this remains its primary role. Originally a brass band with 12 members, the unit has grown in reputation and now boasts a posted strength of 22 musicians performing with brass, woodwind and rhythm section instruments.

The Australian Army Band Kapooka breaks down into a marching band, big band, rock band, jazz ensemble, pep band and an acoustic ensemble. This versatility means most genres of music can be performed and the band can cater for all musical tastes.

The band will be accompanied by Angie Currington who is a full time professional M3 Level Vocalist in the Australian Army Band Corps – the highest level attainable. Classified as a powerful blues/soul singer, with strong jazz, pop influences and rock roots, Angie is well known for singing in many different languages.

Brad and Brodie will be serving coffee before and after the concert to raise awareness and support for Veterans across Australia that are struggling to transition post-service and promoting the INVICTUS Games Sydney 2018. Brad and Brodie have teamed up with 3 Elements Coffee, Mates4Mates, the EDit Program and ANVAM to bring the 'ANVAM Fesitival of Arts Roadshow' to Dubbo.

“...beautifully balanced highlighting the dynamic power, agility and elegance of the concert band.”  President AABC Association
