Work Experience

Are you interested in a career in the performing arts, events or venue management?   Work experience will help you understand how a professional performing arts and events facility operates and you will pick up tips about pursuing a career in the industry.

Dubbo Regional Theatre offers secondary school students the chance to spend a week in Dubbo’s premier entertainment venue, observing and participating in various areas of its operation.  Dubbo Regional Theatre is the major presenter of performing arts in Dubbo and hosts most of the region's largest exhibitions, conferences and sit-down dinners.  It comprises of four main spaces, the Theatre, Theatre Foyer, Convention Centre and Oxley Room.

You will be working closely with staff members in ticketing, administration, event bookings, front-of house, stage management, lighting, audio and also venue management.

Tasks performed will depend on what's programmed at the Centre the week you are undertaking work experience.

Please note there are limited weeks during which work experience can be offered owing to the nature of work in our venue. In addition, we receive more applications for work experience than we are able to accept each year and so we suggest students apply early.
