WORKSHOPS
In 2017 Sydney Dance Company will offer a 1 hour Sneak Peek of their rehearsal again on the Saturday prior to the performance. Most likely around 1pm but this time will be confirmed. The Sneak Peek will take place in the Theatre and will be open to anyone that has a ticket to the actual performance.  However school dance groups and private studios are the target audience.

Sydney Dance Company’s Sneak Peek gives young audiences the unique opportunity to see how a professional dance company prepares for a performance by inviting them into the theatre during rehearsal.

We have the option to offer two (2) workshops of any combination of the following:

CREATIVE WORKSHOPS | TECHNIQUE CLASS | MASTERCLASS

Depending on the age level and the type of workshop these workshops will vary between 1.5-2 hours long.  They will be offered to either the Senior level (13-18) OR Junior level (8-12).

These can take place in-school or at a local studio depending on the level of interest. Maximum 30 students per workshop. Workshops can cater to a range of ability levels if information on level is provided to SDC in advance of the workshop.

Interns (within the standard show). As part of the standard show six children are selected to join our team as ‘interns’. These children are selected in the foyer before the show, taken back-of-house, briefed, dressed in diving suits and helmets and are guided by our performers to enter the performance space from the stage. The interns watch the first half of the show from the front row (designated seating required) and are then invited into the ‘tank’, encountering Erth’s creatures directly, guided by our host. The interns are selected through an informal recruitment process in the foyer prior to the show, the selection being undertaken by our puppeteers who are skilled in identifying children suitable for the role.

WORKSHOPS
Puppet-making workshops (45 minutes) for children aged between 5-12 years. Children will have the opportunity to make their very own creature using basic puppetry mechanisms. To be confirmed how many will be on offer and will be hosted at another venue at this stage.  More information to come.
