Designed for children in years 5 to 9 (but suitable for all ages), the Australian Army Band – Kapooka will delight the audience with their versatility in a program featuring popular music from Beethoven to Elvis Presley and Adele. Although the pop stars of today may seem to perform music that is far removed from images of old men in wigs composing classical music, nothing could be further from the truth.
The Band will dispel the common myth that classical composers were a stuffy lot. In fact, they were the pop stars of their age and lived pop star lifestyles (although they didn’t have Facebook and Twitter to stay in touch with their fans!). The Band will bring to life music from over 200 years worth of popular music whilst demonstrating the different ways we make music in the 21st Century.
This interactive concert will have students playing alongside band members.
